"There is No Higher Ed Without Calculus and Statistics"

Amen brother.

And on an interesting side note for you ladies out there;

most of us guys are neither prince nor military pilot. However, being a hard-working, honest, decent, God-fearing, self-reliant American citizen ought to be enough for any lucky woman.

If I remember correctly isn't the Captain a salsa dance instructor who rides a motorcycle? That'a pretty close to a pilot prince ;)

Aw! Shucks!

But yes, yes it is. Probably better. ;)

Ive noticed all of the male dance instructors at the AM I go to are:

1.) much better dancers then the females they date, often who are instructors themselves.

2.) are really smart guys with a lot of charm and patience, much more than the women the date.

3.) The woman they date who is often an instructors is usually better looking than him.

AM dance life is a microcosm for the real world.

Yes, so the Capt has many alpha qualities and as long as he dances at the level of an instructor, will always be able to nail a hottie even if his salary is less than $30,000/ year.

For the arts types, recollect that Plato demanded a good knowledge of geometry for introduction to his school of philosophy. The evidence is that Plato was a good mathematician, and that he wanted a lot more than the bare bones of Euclidean geometry.

Statistics is often not taught very well. Presented as an element in rational decision-making and its importance is obvious.

BTW I have no objection to using my own name but the "Google Account" choice pushes me into a site for the creation of a blog.

@NMH
I heard that for instructors at the DVIDA level of certification it was generally taboo to date neighboring instructors, kind of like how they usually aren't supposed to be dating students. Is that true?

Aeroguy- at my AM there is a sign posted that teachers WILL NOT fratenize with students or will be fired. The AM ownner where I live seems to let that happen anyway; in fact, many of the women that the male teachers select for gf are promoted to the level of teacher, which explains, in part, why the female teachers are a lot worse than the male teachers are.

But I think he allows this to happen because he wants to keep the male teachers--they are good, and they serve as 10 cent gigolos at Friday night parties to keep the fat middle aged women coming in and buying lessons.

I wonder if there is a fancy-shamcy economics term for tis.
